Biswa · बिस्वा

Measurement

In one line

A subdivision of the bigha — an eighth of it in Himachal, a twentieth elsewhere.

In Himachal Pradesh 8 biswa make a bigha, so one biswa is 1,089 sq ft. In most other northern states the bigha divides into 20 biswa instead. A biswa further divides into 20 biswansi.
