Building rules in Tamil Nadu
One set of rules for the whole state, replacing the separate development control rules that used to run in Chennai and elsewhere. Setbacks are keyed on two different things at once — the width of the road in front for the front setback, and the height of the building for the sides and rear.
Across the rules published for Tamil Nadu: FAR up to 2, height up to 18.3 m, front setback from 1 m. Each figure below carries the clause it comes from.
